Choose Christ

No one can serve two masters. Either you will hate the one and love the other, or you will be devoted to the one and despise the other. -- Matthew 6:24 NIV

Choose Christ in all areas of your life. We can put a lot of weight on that. We can analyze it. We can worry about it. It really just boils down to a choice. A simple choice. A decision like thousands of others you make every day.

Think about a time when you've been stuck with a decision. A simple one. What to have for dinner. It's amusing to think about how hard that choice has been at times, especially, when you are hungry. Everything sounds and looks good, but, also, it is something very temporary. Even if you choose poorly, you'll be hungry again all too soon and can make a different choice. It's not that important, but we agonize over small things like that.

And why is it hard? It really boils down to this: we cannot have everything. Every choice for something is a choice against many other things.

Following God is a choice. We choose to follow and we choose not to do many other things. Only here we choose what is important and let go of what is not. Or, are we trying to hold on to what is worthless and let go of what is important? If you try to hold on to God and the world, you are going to drop one, and maybe not the one you should.

For whoever wants to save their life will lose it, but whoever loses their life for me will find it. -- Matthew 16:25 NIV

Ask God to reveal where you are holding back. You might not even realize that deep down you are trying to hold on to something. If you feel conflicted about choosing Christ, if you feel a reservation, or an uneasy feeling, it might be something you haven't really chosen about.
