Identity

For as he thinks in his heart, so is he.
-- Proverbs 23:7 KJV

Identity determines perspective. Perspective drives thoughts. Thoughts turn into action. When a problem manifests in your speak or actions, you need to look into your thoughts: arguments you imagine, unforgiveness you are harboring, envious affections. When you catch yourself thinking sinful things, look deeper. Try to look at your identity. How do you really see yourself? Do you see yourself as someone struggling to search for God, but ultimately not worthy? Or, do you see your self as someone the Son has set free?

See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are!
-- 1 John 3:1 NIV

By the work of Christ, we are adopted as children of God; of the King of Kings. We are princes and princesses! This isn't some poetic imagery, it's our identity. We have to realize this. We are ambassadors, priests, and commanders; holders of offices of honor. And, we have a duty to the Kingdom.

If we truly see ourselves as children of God, we will act like it. Our identity will drive our actions. We will serve God. But, if we see ourselves as frauds, we will fail.
